Sudden!

That's what this whole situation is.

If two weeks ago you had said to me "you're going to be packing up to move before Thanksgiving" I would have called you a nutbag. But here I am, packing up to move well before Thanksgiving.

You see, my girlfriend and I have an opportunity to move to a cheap apartment in an excellent location and we just can't pass it up. There is a certain amount of gambling involved, which neither of us are keen on, but risks sometimes need to be taken. The apartment is also smaller, which blows, but we will have a full sized stove/oven and refrigerator for the first time in ~3 years. That will be nice. But I'm afraid I'm going to be a bit scarce for a while since moving will be taking up most of my energy.

However, while I might not be posting or commenting as much, I am still reading and will be back to posting again in the future.

  6. Thanks, kids!

Palidor: Heh, I didn't really phrase it well in the post. We aren't moving before Thanksgiving, I'm starting to pack already to try to avoid doing it all at the last minute. Which is what usually happens. ;)

  7. Make the best of the situation however you can. Even if it means eating a lot of bacon and eggs, because that's what is handy and easy to cook. Or sub sandwiches. Whatever. Make it an adventure.

How do you think the kitties are going to cope with the new environment? Did you already talk to them about it, or will it be a surprise?!

Take care, and get back to us whenever you can. :)

  8. I have to move in the next few months, too, and I dread finding a place with one of those piddly "apartment sized" ovens! A full size stove/oven is definitely worth moving for!

    Hope it all goes smoothly!

  10. I hope your move goes smoothly. I'm the worst packer and cleaner so it stresses me like crazy when I have to move stuff around.

  11. Oh, I don't envy you at all. We haven't moved in almost 20 years and I am very afraid of when we do! But on the upside, a full size fridge and stove will be worth it! Hope you get settled soon and are back posting before we know it.

  12. Oi, such pain. If you get hungry, let me know. Even though I am also moving after 17 or so years, I am making extra food of transportable nature, so there is no need for hunger :)

It will be good to be a couple of miles apart again at the end!

  14. Great opportunities are hard to come by so when you have your chance, grab it! The space will be smaller but you and your GF will hopefully be very content with the tradeoff of bigger kitchen appliances. Get packed, get moved, get settled - looking forward to your return to posting!

    Have a happy Thanksgiving!
