Barbecue Chicken Calzone
Here's a quickie, kids, since I'm wicked busy. It's just a little something that I tossed together with the rest of the pizza dough that was leftover from the other calzones I made. I made some barbecue bacon shredded chicken and wrapped it up, as I have a wont to do. It was awesome. A little cheese is in there, although you can't see it. Is it technically a calzone? I say yes, although others will say no. But definitions are a weird thing and I want to know what you think. What makes a calzone a calzone?
Looks like a great calzone to me.
ReplyDeleteI could so have that for dinner.
Def think a calzone must have cheese. It doesn't have to ooze cheese, but it has to include cheese. :) But where is the line between a savory empanada and a calzone? Perhaps it' sjust a size.
ReplyDeleteI like quick tasty food, not to mention if they are good looking too like this!
ReplyDeleteAs long as there's a little cheese, it's still a calzone. Looks good. I love how this the crust is.
ReplyDeleteHehe! Were you talking about me? To me it's a calzone if it has ricotta, otherwise it's a stuffed bread. That's just what I know it to be. It doesn't matter because it looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteWorks for me--I love your calzones!
ReplyDeleteI don't think a calzone needs to have cheese...after all, there are cheese-less pizzas (sad though that idea is). I think a calzone just involves pizza dough being folded over some stuff. Bbq chicken, awesome.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what makes a calzone a calzone... but I'll have one of those!
ReplyDeleteDajana: Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDuo: I always thought empanadas were made with pie dough...? But yeah, I agree that cheese is key.
Angie, Jenn: Thanks!
Michele: Heh, you are one of the people I was referring too. ;) Not that it upsets me, reasonable people can disagree. I also had someone tell me once that if it's not a specific shape it's not a calzone. Which I think is just nuts.
unconfidentialcook: thanks!
Hungry Dog: That's how I've always defined it myself.
Spryte: Heh, thanks!
Wicked!! lol
ReplyDeleteI hear that word so much around these parts.
Aren't calzones fun though?
Technically...I don't know. But I say it's a calzone...it's yummy dough wrapped around yummy fillings in the "shape" of a calzone...YUM :D
ReplyDeleteYour calzone looks really tasty! Thanks for droppin by my blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't think all calzones have to ooze with cheese. Your calzone looks pretty legitimate to me, and delicious too. : )gr
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a calzone - pizza dough with a filling - you don't need even need cheese! This looks yummy - great for a fast dinner!
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously beautiful. I want it for a midnight snack.
ReplyDeleteA rose by any other name is still a rose. And, by golly, that is a terrific looking calzone.
ReplyDeleteLooks wicked good, man! Actually, this has given me an idea...Hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a calzone. I like to think of calzones the way I think of pizza, which is to say that anything goes. I love the unique filling that you put in here. Sounds great.

ReplyDeleteYou're the artist, call it whatever you want...I call it tasty looking!!!
ReplyDeleteI call it delicious! After all, It has bacon.. :) But I would have to agree with Danielle, if it's wrapped in Pizza dough, then it's a calzone...
