Blackberry Jam Crumb Cake
I'm afraid this is one more without step by steps or anything. Mostly, this time, because I was making it at night and I just can't get decent pictures at night in this place. Yet. But it was so good I had to share it. The recipe is here, although I saw it over the The Hungry Dog. It's a very simple cake that uses melted butter instead of softened, which is great for whipping it up on the fly. I used some blackberry jam that one of my sisters made. I've had it sitting in a cupboard for months, trying to decide what to do with it. I could just make pb&js with it, but that seems kind of like a waste, you know? So I used some of it in this cake. Good times kids, I highly recommend it if you are looking for a cake that's not too sweet. It's perfect for breakfast and it's easy to put together, what more do you want from a crumb cake?
Nice! And thanks for the shout out. Glad you liked the recipe...isn't it simple and delicious? And your photos aren't bad at all!
ReplyDeleteThat sure looks good and delicious.
ReplyDeleteThe crumbled cake looks GOOD! And the photos are not bad at all.
ReplyDeletemmm...blackberry jam. I'd like a piece of this cake for breakfast in the morning. placing my order now so maybe there's enough time? haha
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use homemade jam! I wouldn't be able to use it for a PBJ either :)
ReplyDeleteI love the crumb top! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time with the 'steps' photos too since I do all my cooking at 3 in the morning. I've gone to pretty much just doing a finished product shot :(
I let a whole summer go by without any blackberries, sad eh?
ReplyDeleteI love crumb cake, a lot actually, so this is a winner in my opinion.
Oh it looks delightful, one can never have too many coffeecake recipes, just like shoes and sex toys;)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you.
mmmm Coffee Cake... with Blackberry goodness... Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThe crumb topping looks delicious! Have a happy 2010! :)
ReplyDeleteMmm, I love this kind of simple cake with tea, not too sweet.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on step by steps a long time ago. I have no natural light and my pics were all orange. The finished shots I do are under a desk lamp. Seems to work!
Delicious. I love a good crumb cake.
ReplyDeleteMy solution to the night time photo problem is to use my oven light. Mine isn't fluorescent and so it doesn't give off that orange-y color.
Happy New Year!
Crumble is on my to-cook list! yours looks great! Happy new year!
ReplyDeletelooks delicious... I love coffee cake
ReplyDeleteThanks kids! Hope everyone has a great New Year.
ReplyDeleteLooks so delish!! Happy New YEar :D
ReplyDeleteSounds great! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYour coffee cake looks delicious! I have the same issues with the "steps". Even during the day, I don't get enough light in the kitchen. I'm always hauling my mixing bowl into the living room and trying to get a picture without the cat in the backround. :o Happy New Year, Bob!
ReplyDeletemmmmm.I will take this with a big glass of milk please!
ReplyDeleteThat's a noble use for some blackberry jam!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Bob!
This is perfect for breakfast! Or anytime really. Crumb cakes are one of my favorite things. Sometimes I just slice off the top half to eat and leave the cake part. hee hee.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I'd break my diet for a piece of this cake.
ReplyDeleteGoodness what a tasty looking cake! x
ReplyDeleteOh my, Bob, this looks so scrumptious! Love the topping especially... yumm...
ReplyDeleteOMG! This looks so good! And that's not just because I have a major craving for something sweet right now!
ReplyDeleteGreat recipes, great blog!
Oh yes! Nice use of jam for sure. You can fancy up little things in a snap.
