I'm feeling much better, seems it was a short bug. Thanks for all the well wishes! I even made some meatballs yesterday that I'll probably be posting about on Friday. In the meantime here's another quickie. I want to know what you like to mix into banana bread. This batch that my girlfriend made last night had cashews and it was wicked good. So, how about it? Do you like it straight up? With nuts? What kind? How about strawberries? Have you tried caramel? Curried pineapple? Butterscotch? Making the whole damn thing chocolate? I think my favorite is chocolate chips, but I'm open to new experiences. Heh.
i'm all about the chocolate chips, but the last recipe i tried was so good, it didn't need them... i was very surprised.
ReplyDeleteChocolate Chips and walnuts! Delicious!
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks awesome! I'm a sucker for banana bread, so please eat an extra slice or two for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty simple and have only used chocolate chips. Caramel sounds absolutely heavenly! Hey, maybe caramel and rum... kind of like a baked bananas foster.
Any nut or any chocolate. Coconut too. Definitely a good bit of spice like allspice or cardamom. A caramel swirl would be pretty awesome though.
ReplyDeleteNice Blog you have!
ReplyDeleteThe bread looks awesome. In general, I like to keep my breads debris-free, but I have been known to eat chocolate chip banana bread. Glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteglad you're feeling better :). I usually add pecans. But I really like it with cocoa powder and strawberries. mmmmmm
ReplyDeleteMine's got raisins and pecans. Plus cinnamon & nutmeg.
ReplyDeleteyou know it's wild that you posted this as I was intensely craving my banana bread french toast.
ReplyDeleteor maybe a stuffed banana bread french toast. oh heavens bob now I'm starved.
glad you're better and up and at 'em. take some zinc for the next round of colds coming. LOL
Man, I just can't do banana bread! I can do bananas just fine, but baking made with bananas...can't do it.
ReplyDeleteNo chocolate but walnuts, yes please. I also like it with whole wheat flour.
ReplyDeleteChocolate chips all the way!! I'm not crazy about crunchy things in my baked goods except for streusal topping.
ReplyDeleteI love blueberries in banana bread and chocolate chips too.
ReplyDeleteWhat I usually do is spread some strawberry jam on a toasted slice of banana bread, tastes amazing!
Hmmm, I tried to add strawberry, was not as good as I thought it would be. But then, that's just me...
ReplyDeleteI still like to add walnut in it, and caramel sounds so tempting and delicious. I bet it will be really good!
I like banana bread just with bananas. I use a recipe that has cream cheese in the batter that makes it super moist, too. No nuts in mine, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI have a tip that has made my banana bread the best ever: doesn't matter what recipe you use (nuts, chips, coconut, blah blah blah) as long as you triple the amount of bananas in it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou do have to bake it a bit longer because it's very, very moist and flavorful.
I like it anyway...but cashews, now that sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteCashews, yum! I never thought about that...
ReplyDeleteGlad you're better. Now I have it. It's good to know it's a short one!
Just saw a recipe with oatmeal in, and that's gotta be good; I'm not a huge fan of nuts in anything although I *love* to eat them on their own. Go figure. That said, I'll at banana bread any which way. YUM!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely in the chocolate chip camp on this issue. But I prefer the mini chocolate chips, and I think walnut dust adds a texture and flavor without the crunch that most people can abide by.
ReplyDeleteI love any kind of banana bread! But especially with nuts - like this one with the cashews - looks delicious! I like dried cranberries too or cinnamon chips, yummmm.
ReplyDeleteI once had a banana bread with chocolate chips dusted in edible gold. A little gift from Joel Robuchon's restaurant. That was definitely the best banana bread I ever had!
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge fan of banana anything. But I do like PB and bananas...so maybe PB?
ReplyDeleteLooks awesomely delicious...!! As for me, it's definitely Walnuts... It balances out the sweetness of the banana... Tried it with hazelnuts once (cause I LOVE hazelnuts) but they were too sweet in the finished product.
ReplyDeleteI like mine simply with just bananas. once in I have some walnuts and a streusel topping on top.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit of a banana bread purist, I suppose, but a ribbon of caramel running through it sure sounds good!
ReplyDeleteoh i like banana and peanut butter, this bread looks delicious. nice idea of addong cashews :)
ReplyDeleteThe last banana bread I ate was with ginger and chocolate from orangette. mmm
